Assistant Financial Controller

We operate in a unique remote setting, underpinned by strong financial discipline, operational excellence and a supportive, close-knit team.
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller in the day-to-day operations of the finance function and play a key role in maintaining financial integrity across the business.
Location: Kakadu NT
Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 + super (subsidies accommodation & meals provided)
Work Pattern: Onsite - Monday - Friday
About the Role
This is a hands-on role where you will oversee core finance functions including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and financial reporting, while partnering closely with operational teams across the lodge.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing daily finance operations including AP, AR and payroll
- Preparing monthly reconciliations, journals and financial reports (P&L, cash flow)
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
- Monitoring cash flow, debtor balances and implementing collection processes
- Ensuring compliance with financial controls, policies and audit requirements
- Partnering with department leaders to drive cost efficiencies and profitability
- Acting as Financial Controller in their absence
About You
You are a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in a similar finance or management accounting role
- Strong understanding of payroll, GST, BAS and financial reporting
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build strong relationships across teams and stakeholders
- A hands-on, adaptable approach with the ability to manage competing priorities
