Accounting Manager (Japanese-English Bilingual)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting Manager (Japanese-English bilingual) to join a global FMCG organisation producing well-known consumer products.
This role is based in Dandenog (VIC) and plays a key function in managing Japan accounting operations while collaborating closely with the finance team in Japan. The successful candidate will act as a key bridge between the Melbourne and Japan offices, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strong financial governance.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within an international environment. The role will also include occasional business travel to Japan.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end Japan accounting processes from Melbourne
- Lead month-end close activities for Japan entity, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis
- Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations
- Support daily bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasting
- Review and support AP/AR functions and foreign currency payments
- Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring controls are implemented and maintained
- Support statutory reporting including tax and local regulatory requirements
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements (including ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA)
- Provide guidance and support to finance and operational stakeholders across regions
- Liaise closely with stakeholders in Japan and other global finance teams
Key Requirements
- Fully qualified CPA or CA (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience in Japanese accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
- Fluency in Japanese and English (business level both written and spoken)
- Experienced working in a shared services business model between Australia and Japan
- Advanced Excel and SAP experience (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across global teams
- Full working rights in Australia (Austraia citizen or PR )
