About the Role
The APS5 Quality Officer operates within a performance and quality assurance environment to review operational activities and assess compliance with legislation, policy, and established procedures. The role involves undertaking file reviews, analysing qualitative and quantitative information, and providing clear and evidence-based written assessments to support consistent and high-quality decision-making.
This position contributes to quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying trends, risks, and best practice approaches across operational processes. The APS5 Quality Officer works both independently and collaboratively within a team, applying sound judgement and analytical thinking to assess complex information and support improvements in service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quality reviews of operational files to assess compliance with legislation, policy and procedures
- Apply established guidance and frameworks to evaluate decision-making quality and consistency
- Provide clear, objective and evidence-based written assessments and commentary
- Accurately record review outcomes and data using approved tools and systems
- Identify risks to individuals or program integrity and escalate through appropriate processes
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative information to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice approaches
- Support knowledge sharing and capability uplift within the team
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with privacy, data management and information governance requirements
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support quality and performance outcomes
Mandatory Requirements
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex information and draw logical conclusions
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance processes
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a structured environment
- Ability to undertake required criminal history and background checks
Highly Regarded
- Experience conducting audits, compliance reviews or file reviews
- Experience analysing qualitative and quantitative data
- Moderate Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience working within a government or regulated policy environment
- Familiarity with quality assurance, audit or continuous improvement frameworks
