About the Role
The EL1 Assistant Director Workplace Integrity operates within a complex people management and integrity framework to provide high-level advice and case management across employee relations matters. The role involves managing sensitive workplace investigations, interpreting employment legislation and policy, and providing clear and evidence-based advice to support consistent and compliant decision-making.
This position contributes to the effective management of complex workplace issues by undertaking investigations, managing reviews of action, and supporting the resolution of matters that may arise in external jurisdictions. The EL1 Assistant Director Workplace Integrity works both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, exercising sound judgement, professionalism and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Code of Conduct investigations and manage complex workplace integrity matters
- Provide high-level advice on employment legislation, government policy and workplace relations frameworks
- Manage Reviews of Action and support the resolution of employee relations matters
- Undertake risk assessments and recommend appropriate courses of action for complex people management issues
- Collaborate with legal and HR teams on matters that may arise in external jurisdictions
- Analyse workplace case data and prepare reports to inform decision making and risk management
- Contribute to the review and development of people and culture policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with privacy and information governance requirements
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders to support sound people management practices
- Provide guidance and support to managers in navigating complex workplace issues
- Other duties as required
Mandatory Requirements
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations or workplace integrity matters
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and workplace relations frameworks
- Highly developed written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear advice and reports
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion
- Proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced and complex work environment
- Ability to undertake required criminal history and background checks
Highly Regarded
- Experience conducting workplace investigations or misconduct inquiries
- Experience working within a government or regulated policy environment
- Knowledge of public sector employment frameworks and integrity processes
- Experience managing matters across external employment jurisdictions
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
