HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced APS5 Finance Officer to support a Federal Government organisation's Financial Reporting and Control team based in Surry Hills, Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong asset and lease accounting experience to contribute to a high-performing team responsible for financial reporting, compliance, and financial management activities.
Working under limited direction, you will play a key role in managing asset, fleet, and property lease accounting processes while ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with asset, fleet and property lease management using SAP REFX
- Review new lease contracts, amendments and lease terminations
- Perform reconciliations of fleet lease contracts and vendor accounts
- Complete lease assessments and supporting financial calculations
- Create and maintain fleet and property lease records in SAP REFX
- Prepare and distribute monthly lease reporting
- Process monthly lease, rent and property allocation journals
- Prepare fleet interest and lease liability working papers
- Investigate and resolve financial variances with key stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with AASB16 lease accounting requirements
- Support asset reporting, financial statements and audit activities
- Provide financial asset management advice to internal stakeholders
- Prepare business cases, reports, executive briefs and corporate documentation
- Collaborate with corporate services, property and finance teams to achieve business outcomes
- Support the Assistant Director Assets with operational and project priorities
- Competitive pay rate of $55.24 per hour, including casual loading, providing you with financial stability and recognition for your expertise.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience in financial accounting, asset accounting or lease accounting
- Strong understanding of reconciliations, journals and month-end processes
- Experience working with SAP, ideally SAP REFX
- Knowledge of AASB16 lease accounting requirements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience preparing financial reports, briefs and written documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork
- Previous Federal or State Government experience
- Experience with fleet and property lease management
- Exposure to financial statement preparation and audit support activities
- SAP REFX leasing module experience
