Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, professional and engaging customer service.
- Build rapport with visitors and assist them with product selection.
- Develop strong product and subject knowledge to confidently answer customer questions.
- Promote products and support sales targets through knowledgeable and engaging selling.
- Process sales using POS systems, EFTPOS and cash handling procedures.
- Complete cash reconciliations and maintain accurate records.
- Assist with stock control, replenishment and visual merchandising.
- Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming retail environment.
- Prioritise customer service while keeping on top of daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Work confidently and independently during unsupervised shifts, particularly on weekends.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in retail, hospitality or another customer-facing environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong POS, EFTPOS and cash-handling experience.
- The ability to remain calm, organised and task-focused in a busy environment.
- A professional presentation and a natural ability to build rapport with visitors.
- The confidence to work autonomously and use initiative when management is not on site.
- A flexible and reliable approach to work, including weekend availability.
- An interest in Australian history, military history or national institutions is highly desirable.
- An ability to quickly develop product and subject knowledge and communicate it naturally with customers.
- Work within a nationally significant cultural institution.
