We are seeking passionate and community-focused professionals to join a Federal Government agency as a Local Community Connector (LCC). Eligibility Requirements

• Australian Citizenship is essential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a National Criminal Police Clearance.

APS5 Equivalent | $55.24 per hour | 12-Month assignment with possibility of extension

About the Role
As a Local Community Connector (LCC), you will be the local face of the NDIA, helping individuals understand and access the NDIS while connecting them with mainstream and community supports.
Working closely with participants, service providers, and community stakeholders, you will play a vital role in improving inclusion and participation for people with disability.
This is an Identified Position, with a strong focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

Key Responsibilities
Community & Participant Support

• Assist participants and service partners with gathering and verifying information for NDIS access applications.
• Support participants to connect with community, mainstream, and funded supports.
• Develop outcome-focused community connection plans that reflect participant choice and control.
• Conduct participant check-ins and assist with plan variation requests, including collecting and submitting supporting documentation.

Community Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships within local communities.
• Promote inclusion and participation for people with disability.
• Work respectfully with diverse communities, recognising and valuing cultural differences and local needs.
• Provide information and guidance on the NDIS, mainstream services, and community supports.

About You
To be successful, you will demonstrate:

First Nations Cultural Capability

• Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and communities.
• Ability to engage respectfully and effectively with First Nations peoples.
• Experience applying cultural awareness and sensitivity in service delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Customer Service Excellence

• Strong customer service skills gained in government, community, health, human services, or other service-focused environments.
• Ability to manage enquiries, build rapport, and achieve positive outcomes for stakeholders.

ICT Capability

• Experience using databases, ICT systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to utilise technology to support service delivery, reporting, record management, and administration.

Communication & Relationship Building

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop effective relationships with participants, community groups, service providers, and internal stakeholders.
