Primary Purpose
Design and deliver workplace health and safety (WHS) policies, processes, programs, and reporting for the Transport Fleet Operations team to ensure legislative compliance and foster a strong safety culture. The role will focus on driver fatigue management, psychosocial hazard management, and implementing new systems to improve safety outcomes for a team of ~60 drivers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Vehicle & Travel Operations Service Safety Management System; monitor and evaluate effectiveness.
- Lead the creation and proactive review of WHS policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct psychosocial risk assessments and develop frameworks for psychosocial hazard management.
- Implement a fatigue management process, including risk assessments for long trips.
- Oversee medical and driving compliance programs for drivers.
- Analyse WHS data to identify trends, develop initiatives, and improve risk management.
- Deliver training and awareness programs to build WHS knowledge across the team.
- Work collaboratively with People, Culture & Talent on WHS, psychosocial risk, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Provide on-call support for ad-hoc WHS issues.

Role Requirements / Characteristics

- Strong project management experience.
- Willing to attend the office 5 days per week and respond to ad-hoc on-call requests.
- Experience in transport operations or similar environments (private or government).
- Knowledge of WHS legislation, frameworks, fatigue management systems, psychosocial risk management.

Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience in WHS or related field.
- Experience in WHS policy interpretation, risk management, return-to-work programs, and psychosocial risk mitigation.
