About the Role
Canterbury Bankstown Council is seeking an experienced Catchment Management Planner to support the delivery of floodplain, stormwater and integrated water cycle management outcomes across the city. The role sits within the City Plan and Transformation Unit and reports to the Team Leader - Urban Policy and Planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver actions under the Catchment and Waterways Strategic Plan
- Coordinate Floodplain Risk Management Studies and Plans
- Manage stormwater, waterways and coastal management programs
- Provide specialist technical advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Manage consultants, projects, budgets and grant-funded programs
- Contribute to planning instruments (LEPs, DCPs, policies, Section 10.7 Certificates)
- Undertake research, develop policies and provide strategic advice
- Apply Water Sensitive Urban Design principles
- Collaborate with government agencies, councils and catchment committees
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in civil or environmental engineering, planning, environmental science or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years' experience in floodplain management, planning or environmental engineering
- Strong knowledge of the NSW Flood Risk Management Process and Flood Prone Land Policy
- Proven project management, stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Desirable
- Local Government experience
- Coastal Management Program experience
- Current C Class Driver's Licence
