You will help ensure operational activities meet standards, support performance improvements, and enable teams to deliver high‑quality services backed by strong evidence and clear processes.
What You'll Do
As an APS6 Project Officer working under limited direction, you will contribute to and coordinate a range of project and program activities.
Project Planning & Delivery
- Coordinate project activities and monitor progress against plans.
- Assist in developing and maintaining project plans, schedules and artefacts aligned to project management frameworks.
- Identify, monitor and manage project risks, issues and benefits.
Analysis, Reporting & Documentation
- Conduct research and analysis to support planning and decision‑making.
- Contribute to project reporting, including status updates and exception reports.
- Draft clear and professional written materials including business cases, briefs, plans and corporate documentation.
- Monitor budgets, support procurement processes and assist with contract management.
Quality, Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support quality management activities to ensure deliverables meet client and organisational needs.
- Provide procedural guidance and technical advice within your project stream.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve project and organisational outcomes.

- Strong understanding of agile project management methodologies to plan, monitor and deliver work packages.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Experience developing and maintaining structured project artefacts.
- Ability to work independently with initiative and minimal supervision.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a proven ability to build productive relationships.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Sound judgement, with the ability to make evidence‑informed decisions.
- Understanding of privacy and accessibility requirements.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage expectations professionally.
- High proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Planner.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and support a range of project functions.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of project management frameworks, methodologies and governance practices.
- Understanding of service delivery environments or the ability to quickly develop this understanding.
Qualifications and/or Experience (Desirable)
- At least 2 years of project management experience.
- Government administration experience.
- Qualifications in project management, government, or the social services field.
