About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Community & Environmental Health Support Officer (MOA Level 3) to provide high-quality operational and administrative support across our Community Safety, Environmental Health, and Waste Management teams.
This role plays a vital part in supporting regulatory compliance, protecting our environment, and enhancing the health, wellbeing, and safety of our community through effective service delivery, education, and enforcement assistance.
How You Will Make an Impact
In this role, you will:
- Support the delivery of operational outcomes across Community Safety, Environmental Health, and Waste Management
- Help improve community health, wellbeing, and safety by supporting Councils regulatory obligations
- Contribute to environmental protection through high-quality waste and recycling support services
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day operational and administrative support to the Community & Environmental Health (C&EH) Section
- Deliver efficient, accurate, and customer-focused support across multidisciplinary teams
- Process and respond to internal and external correspondence, including providing technical advice relating to C&EH functions
- Assist with the implementation of policies, procedures, and strategic plans
- Receive, manage, and respond to public complaints relating to Community Safety, Environmental Health, and Waste services
- Support the delivery of operational programs, projects, and initiatives
- Maintain accurate and reliable data sources and ensure information integrity
- Support financial administration including purchase orders, invoicing, creditors, and debtors
- Manage expiation appeals, including exercising sound judgement and preparing documentation for legal proceedings where required
- Provide continuous improvement support to team leaders to enhance service delivery and performance
- Support permit administration by assisting the Business Partner - Permits
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Experience in an administrative or support officer role within a regulatory environment
Desirable
- Qualification in Business Administration or a related discipline
- Conflict resolution training
Skills & Knowledge
- Working knowledge of legislation relevant to Environmental Health, Community Safety, and Waste Management
- Understanding of local government operations and regulatory responsibilities
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation and policies
- Knowledge of summary court procedures and evidence requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to exercise professional judgement
- Excellent written, oral, and report-writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective customer service to potentially aggrieved clients
- Understanding of risk management principles
Information Management & Cyber Security
- Commitment to best-practice information management
- Ability to operate and maintain Council IT systems relevant to the role
- Working knowledge of cyber security controls and compliance requirements
