Economist - Director

We're seeking a strategic and results-driven EL2 level Director - Economics & Pricing to lead high-impact policy and pricing initiatives within a federal government agency. This full-time role based in Geelong or Richmond Vic is ideal for experienced professionals who thrive in complex policy environments and are passionate about economic reform and service improvement.
As a senior leader in the economics and pricing team, you'll play a critical role in shaping national pricing frameworks, guiding reform projects, and delivering evidence-based policy advice that supports transparent, sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and delivering pricing policy initiatives and frameworks
- Managing reform projects and ensuring quality, timely outcomes
- Applying economic modelling to inform strategic decisions
- Preparing high-quality briefings, reports, and presentations
- Engaging with stakeholders to ensure practical, transparent policy
- Supporting risk management and continuous improvement
- Contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture
What We're Looking For
- Strong program and project management experience
- Advanced analytical and economic modelling skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Sound judgment and problem-solving capability
- Effective stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and drive team outcomes
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, public policy, or related fields (desirable)
