About the Role:
The APS5 Quality Officer operates under limited supervision to deliver moderately complex to complex operational, reporting and quality assurance activities within a performance and quality-focused branch. The role supports agency-wide objectives by contributing to quality assurance, performance reporting, workload management and continuous improvement initiatives.
The position requires sound judgement, strong analytical capability and the ability to work with data, systems and stakeholders to produce accurate reporting, insights and written outputs that inform decision-making. The APS5 Quality Officer works collaboratively within a team environment while managing their own workflow, priorities and deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a range of moderately complex quality assurance reviews and activities.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure compliance with legislation, policy and established procedures.
- Provide professional, evidence-based commentary to inform decision-making, planning practice and performance improvement.
- Record data and review outcomes accurately, adhering to privacy and data policies.
- Identify risks and escalate appropriately, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the development and implementation of improvement strategies to achieve branch and agency objectives.
- Support team members through mentoring and knowledge-sharing to enhance technical skills and quality outcomes.
- Use insights from data and reviews to contribute to continuous improvement.
- Manage workflow requests, including system-based triage and routing.
- Prepare and present high-quality written materials, reports and insights to stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve business and operational outcomes.
- Other duties as required.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in quality assurance, reporting, performance, operational support or related roles.
- Strong analytical capability, including the ability to interpret data and translate insights into clear, actionable information.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, charting and data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with limited supervision, managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proven judgement and decision-making skills, applying evidence-based approaches to problem solving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting professional documentation and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships and respond professionally to enquiries and feedback.
Highly Regarded:
- Experience working within a federal or state government environment.
- Experience using reporting or analytics platforms such as Salesforce analytics, SAS or similar tools.
- Experience using JIRA or other project management tools.
- Experience managing system-based workflows, routing rules or permissions.
- Understanding of forecasting, statistical modelling or performance reporting frameworks.
