About the Role:
The Senior Engineer (Civil) will manage multiple infrastructure projects, providing high-level technical expertise, project management, and contract administration across pre-construction and construction phases. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, technical staff, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
This role will suit a professional with demonstrated experience in civil engineering, project and contract management, and leadership in infrastructure delivery. The successful candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, a detailed understanding of design and construction practices, and the ability to mentor and guide junior staff while fostering collaborative relationships across teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead pre-construction and/or construction projects, ensuring technical quality and value for money.
- Provide expert engineering advice on planning, design, materials, construction practices, and project delivery.
- Act as Project Manager and Contract Administrator, managing tenders, contracts, and compliance with policies and legislation.
- Oversee pre-construction activities including surveys, geotechnical investigations, land resumptions, and design tenders.
- Mentor and support engineers, graduates, and technical staff to resolve project issues and deliver on time and budget.
- Respond to technical inquiries from the public and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide timely advice to senior staff on technical and operational issues.
- Promote and maintain a safe, healthy, and sustainable workplace.
- Other duties as required
Mandatory Requirements:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Washington Accord accredited) or equivalent, assessed by Engineers Australia.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
- Current Class C driver's licence.
- Construction Industry Induction (White Card).
- Own suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Criminal history screening clearance.
- Full Australian working rights.
Highly Regarded:
- Experience in road infrastructure project delivery within a government or large-scale environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and contracts simultaneously.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and mentoring skills.
- Knowledge of Queensland Government project and procurement systems.
