About the Role:
The APS4 Project Officer will provide operational, administrative, and project support to enable the successful delivery of agency priorities. Working under supervision, the role will assist with project planning, reporting, research, and documentation, while liaising with internal and external stakeholders. This position is suited to a capable and proactive professional who can manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced federal government environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and management of project plans, schedules, and documentation in accordance with organisational project management frameworks.
- Provide procedural advice and administrative support to team members and stakeholders.
- Assist with research, analysis, and preparation of reports on project activities.
- Coordinate regular project reporting, including status updates and exception reports.
- Draft high-quality project documentation for review by senior staff.
- Monitor project budgets, report on expenditure, and assist with reconciliation and procurement activities.
- Contribute to the identification and management of project risks, issues, and benefits.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project outcomes.
- Support business improvement initiatives and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Other duties as required.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Full Australian citizenship
- Demonstrated experience providing project coordination or operational support in a government or large, complex organisational environment
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage moderately complex issues
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports or briefing materials
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work with a high degree of independence under limited direction
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools
Highly Regarded:
- Experience working within a federal or state government environment
- Exposure to project management frameworks, governance, risk management, and budget monitoring
- Experience engaging with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
