About the Role:
The AO3 Business Support Officer will provide a broad range of administrative and business support services to a high-performing team within a state government agency. The role supports day-to-day operations through effective customer service, financial administration, travel coordination and office support, contributing to the efficient delivery of services to the Queensland community.
This position is well suited to a highly organised and service-oriented professional who can manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced government environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders via face-to-face, email and telephone enquiries.
- Provide accurate information and resolve enquiries or redirect matters to the appropriate officer or business area.
- Deliver day-to-day administrative support, including data entry, recordkeeping, meeting room bookings, onboarding support and office logistics.
- Provide financial administration support, including accounts payable and receivable, expense claims, reconciliations, and procurement of minor goods and services using corporate cards.
- Coordinate travel arrangements, including flights, accommodation, car hire and taxi vouchers, ensuring approvals, documentation and reconciliations are completed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by contributing ideas to enhance customer service, processes and systems.
- Provide administrative support during emergency or operational response activities as required.
- Other duties as required.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in administrative, business support or customer service roles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
- Full Australian working rights are required.
Highly Regarded:
- Experience working within a state government or public sector environment.
- Exposure to financial administration, procurement or travel coordination functions.
- Experience supporting operational teams in fast-paced or high-volume environments.
- Knowledge of records management and corporate governance requirements.
