About the Role
My client an established 3PL logistics provider is seeking an experienced Fleet Controller/Scheduler to manage the movement of shipping containers and their delivery trucks across Western Australia.
This role is responsible for coordinating the timely transport of containers between Fremantle Port, container depots in Welshpool, and customer sites. You'll play a key role in ensuring efficient fleet utilisation, minimising demurrage exposure, and maintaining compliance within a busy logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate container transport operations, including from Fremantle Port and empty container de-hires
- Schedule and dispatch heavy vehicles
- Manage and improve 1-Stop VBS bookings for terminal dehire sites
- Monitor container availability, vessel arrivals, and free-time windows to reduce demurrage and detention costs
- Ensure all fleet movements comply with Main Roads WA Heavy Vehicle regulations, including fatigue and mass requirements
- Maintain accurate, real-time updates within the Transport Management System (TMS) - Freight Tracker (previous experience desirable).
- Liaise with drivers, container parks, stevedores, and client logistics teams to resolve delays
About You
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in container transport scheduling and fleet control within a 3PL or transport operator
- Strong working knowledge of Freight Tracker (desirable)
- Understanding of Fremantle Port operations and container flow processes
- Solid knowledge of WA Heavy Vehicle regulations, including RAV networks and fatigue laws
- Experience dealing with container parks (e.g. Tyne ACFS, CCPS) is highly regarded
- Strong communication skills and ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
