About the Role:
The Registered Nurse will manage the day to day operations of the school's Health Centre, providing primary healthcare, emergency response, and ongoing wellbeing support to students from Years 5 to 12. Working collaboratively with a health centre administrator and reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, the role ensures a safe and supportive environment for all students.
This position will suit a nurse seeking to move from a hospital or clinical setting into a school based environment, where relationship building, communication, and proactive health management are key. The school community values respect, inclusion, and holistic education guided by strong Catholic traditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first aid, triage, and medical support for illnesses and injuries.
- Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate health records.
- Develop and manage care plans for students with chronic conditions.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and liaise with parents and medical professionals as required.
- Work collaboratively with the school's health centre administrator and HR department.
- Promote student wellbeing through education and preventative health practices.
- Other duties as required
Mandatory Requirements:
- Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent qualification).
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (AHPRA).
- Valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and National Police Check.
- Current Senior First Aid, CPR, and Anaphylaxis Certification.
- Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Full Australian working rights required.
- Demonstrated ability to uphold and respect the Catholic ethos, values, and traditions of the school community, while fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all students.
Highly Regarded:
- Previous experience in a school, paediatric, or community health environment.
- Ability to manage a small team or administrative support staff.
- Familiarity with student wellbeing and duty-of-care frameworks.
