HOBAN Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading Federal Government organisation to recruit experienced and qualified APS6 level Support Needs Assessors.
The positions are available in multiple locations: Bankstown, Liverpool, Parramatta, Penrith, Wollongong, Lismore, Gosford, Newcastle, Port Macquarie and Tamworth
This is a unique opportunity to utilise your allied health, nursing or related clinical expertise to support people with disability through evidence-based, person-centred assessments that contribute to positive participant outcomes. Based on the supplied position description, the role focuses on conducting support needs assessments, analysing evidence, preparing assessment reports and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
About the Role
As an APS6 level Support Needs Assessor, you will undertake comprehensive participant assessments and provide professional recommendations that support informed planning decisions. You will engage directly with participants, families and representatives, applying a strengths-based, trauma-informed and person-centred approach throughout the assessment process.
Key responsibilities include:

• Conduct support needs assessments through participant interviews, guided conversations and evidence gathering.
• Analyse and interpret clinical, functional and supporting evidence to inform assessment outcomes.
• Prepare high-quality, accurate and objective assessment reports.
• Communicate assessment processes and outcomes clearly with participants, families and stakeholders.
• Apply legislation, policies and operational guidelines when making evidence-based decisions.
• Escalate complex matters and risks where required.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve coordinated participant outcomes.
• Utilise digital systems and case management tools to accurately record assessment information.
• Support team capability through knowledge sharing, mentoring and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess strong assessment, communication and analytical skills, along with a commitment to person-centred practice and improving outcomes for people with disability.
Mandatory Qualifications
You must hold a recognised tertiary qualification in one of the following disciplines:

• Occupational Therapy
• Physiotherapy
• Speech Pathology
• Social Work
• Dietetics
• Exercise Physiology
• Rehabilitation Counselling
• Counselling
• Psychotherapy

OR
A relevant tertiary qualification as:

• Registered Nurse (RN)
• Enrolled Nurse (EN)
• Clinician with an Education degree
• NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner

Evidence of qualifications must be attached to your application.
You will also demonstrate:

• Experience conducting support needs assessments or similar person-centred assessments.
• Strong interviewing, report writing and evidence analysis abilities. .
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. .
• Ability to make sound, evidence-based decisions in complex environments. .
• Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe and inclusive practice. .
• Knowledge of disability, health, rehabilitation or community service settings. .
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. .

Desirable

• Experience administering support needs assessment frameworks.
• Experience using person-centred assessment methodologies.
• Accreditation or experience with the I-CAN Support Needs Assessment Tool highly regarded but not essential.
