Policy Professionals - APS6 Senior Policy Officer & EL1 Assistant Director
Location: Midland, CBD office or Regional office + hybrid working options: 12-month labour hire assignment
Are you passionate about shaping public policy and making a real impact? We are seeking two dynamic individuals to join our team in strategic policy roles that support the agency's objectives and contribute to meaningful outcomes for Australians with disability.
APS6 - Senior Policy Officer - $60.26 p/h - This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of government processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic policy advice aligned with government priorities.
- Prepare high-quality policy documents including ministerial briefs.
- Conduct research and analysis to support evidence-based policy.
- Support parliamentary and ministerial engagement.
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in policy or research roles, preferably in the public sector and in a First Nations context.
- Proven ability to think strategically, identify emerging issues, and develop innovative solutions to complex policy challenges
- Experience in preparing high-quality written materials such as briefs, reports, and ministerial correspondence
EL1 - Assistant Director, Policy Officer - $602.55 per day
As an Assistant Director, you will lead complex policy projects and provide high-level advice to senior executives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic policy initiatives and manage complex projects.
- Provide strategic advice to senior executives.
- Prepare Cabinet submissions and ministerial briefs.
- Engage with stakeholders across government, industry, and community.
- Represent the agency in external forums.
Candidate essentials:
· Strategic Policy Expertise: Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating public policy. Experience in First Nations policy contexts is highly desirable.
· Analytical and Communication Skills: Proven ability to undertake research and analysis to inform evidence-based policy advice, and to prepare high-quality written materials.
· Leadership and Project Delivery: Demonstrated capacity to manage projects or policy initiatives within tight timeframes.
· Public Sector Knowledge and Cultural Competency: Sound understanding of government decision-making processes and a commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations.
Qualifications (Desirable for Both Roles):
- Tertiary qualifications in public policy, political science, economics, law, or related fields.
