About Marist180
For young people experiencing homelessness, trauma, family breakdown, and exclusion from education or employment, Marist180 exists to create hope, dignity and positive change.
Marist180 is a Catholic not‑for‑profit organisation inspired by the Marist tradition and grounded in Catholic social teaching. The organisation is committed to walking alongside young people and families at risk, particularly those who are marginalised and vulnerable.
Operating more than 50 homes and service sites across Sydney, Regional NSW and the ACT, Marist180 supports approximately 1,300 young people and families each year through services including:
- Residential care and supported independent living
- Homelessness and family support services
- Education and employment pathways
- Culturally responsive and community‑based programs
With a workforce of approximately 500 staff, Marist180 delivers trauma‑informed, strengths‑based services underpinned by compassion, respect, justice and faith‑inspired service.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will provide values‑driven, faith‑informed leadership at a pivotal moment in Marist180's journey.
The CEO will lead an organisation‑wide renewal and performance improvement agenda, strengthening governance, rebuilding leadership capability, restoring stability, and ensuring Marist180 is well positioned for its next phase of mission and impact.
This role requires a leader with exceptional communication skills and emotional intelligence, able to engage authentically with staff, young people, Church partners, government, funders and the wider community.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Leading the delivery of a Board‑approved renewal and performance improvement plan
- Rebuilding and strengthening the Executive Leadership Team
- Embedding robust governance, performance reporting and accountability frameworks
- Improving service quality, client voice, safety and measurable outcomes
- Strengthening risk management, compliance and organisational sustainability
- Providing strong financial stewardship and ensuring long‑term viability
- Re‑anchoring organisational culture in Catholic social teaching and Marist values
- Acting as a visible, credible and compassionate ambassador for Marist180
About You
You are a purpose‑led senior executive whose faith and personal values shape the way you lead, communicate and make decisions.
You bring the confidence and resilience to lead through complexity, paired with the emotional intelligence to rebuild trust, listen deeply, and inspire others during times of change.
You will bring:
- Proven experience as a CEO or senior executive leading complex organisations
- A strong track record of leading transformation, cultural change or organisational renewal
- Background experience in not‑for‑profit, government or commercial sectors - candidates without prior not‑for‑profit experience are welcome, provided they bring strong values alignment and a commitment to mission
- Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence and connect across diverse stakeholder groups
- Demonstrated emotional intelligence and people‑centred leadership capability
- Strong financial, operational and governance acumen
- Experience working constructively with Boards, government, regulators, funders and community or faith‑based stakeholders
- A deep alignment with Catholic faith, Marist values and the mission of serving vulnerable young people
