A global leader in integrated logistics and supply chain solutions is seeking a Customs Classifier to join their high-performing customs and brokerage team based in Sydney's south suburbs.

We are looking for someone passionate about customs and trade compliance, who is keen to step up in their career. The successful candidate will be supported in their long-term development, with clear career progression opportunities from Customs Classifier through to Customs Broker.
You will play a critical role in ensuring smooth customs clearance processes across import and export shipments, supporting a diverse portfolio of global clients across multiple industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Classify goods in accordance with the internal system and relevant Australian customs legislation
- Review import/export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and supporting technical information to determine correct tariff classifications
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of customs entries prior to lodgement
- Liaise with customers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to obtain product specifications and resolve classification queries
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, tariff schedules, and trade agreements impacting classification decisions
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in product descriptions, documentation, or classification outcomes
- Communicate with the Australian Border Force (ABF) and other regulatory bodies as required to ensure compliance
- Maintain accurate records of all classification decisions and supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposes
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance classification processes and compliance efficiency
Key Requirements
- Previous experience min of 2 years in Australia in a Customs Compiler, Customs Broker Assistant, or Classification role within freight forwarding or logistics
- Strong knowledge of Australian Customs legislation, HS tariff classification, and import/export procedures
- Familiarity with systems such as CargoWise, Expedient, or similar TMS platforms (preferred)
- High attention to detail with strong data accuracy skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Customs Broker Licence (advantageous but not essential)
- Experience within a 3PL or global freight forwarding environment highly regarded
- Full working rights in Australia (all candidates will be subject to Australian citizenship and visa checks)
