Facilities & Maintenance Officer

HOBAN Recruitment is recruiting for the role of Facilities & Maintenance Officer on behalf of our client, located in Canberra ACT.
About the Role
In this active and varied role, you will support the delivery of essential maintenance and site services across multiple facilities. Working under general direction, you will:
- Carry out facilities and grounds maintenance including graffiti removal, fountain and memorial upkeep, furniture relocation, flag and banner installation, and general building tasks.
- Liaise with customers, contractors and internal staff to ensure safe, efficient and customer-focused service delivery.
- Record work activities and maintain accurate documentation for invoicing, supplier payments and reporting.
- Use computer systems, databases and property management programs to plan, schedule and document works.
- Potentially supervise staff or small crews, including planning, prioritising and coordinating daily activities.
- Work in alignment with ACTPS values and Code of Conduct.
- Support other operational duties as required.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in facility, grounds or building maintenance, or a related trade background.
- Strong practical skills and the ability to safely perform manual tasks.
- Effective communication skills when engaging with staff, contractors and the public.
- Competence using computers, databases or scheduling tools.
- The ability to supervise or coordinate small teams (highly regarded).
- A positive, reliable and safety-focused approach to work.
Mandatory / Desirable Requirements:
- Ability to hold: White Card, Asbestos Awareness, Working with Vulnerable People registration.
- Ability to obtain a Medium Rigid (MR) truck licence.
- Qualifications in a building trade (highly desirable).
- Certificates in Traffic Control, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, or willingness to obtain.
