APS 6 Senior Policy Officer

HOBAN Recruitment is recruiting for the role of Senior Policy Officer on behalf of our client, located in Canberra or Sydney.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced policy professional to contribute to meaningful, evidence-based policy initiatives that support national priorities.
About the Role
As a Senior Policy Officer, you will contribute to the development and implementation of strategic policy initiatives that advance the agency's objectives.
You will conduct research and analysis, prepare policy advice and briefing materials, and engage with key stakeholders across government.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and contributing to high-quality strategic policy advice aligned with government priorities.
- Preparing ministerial briefs, submissions, and other policy documents.
- Supporting ministerial and parliamentary engagement processes.
- Conducting research and analysis to underpin evidence-based policy recommendations.
- Managing policy projects, including planning, coordination, and reporting.
- Monitoring emerging trends, risks and opportunities relevant to the agency's work.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Strong understanding of public policy development and Australian Government processes.
- Proven experience in preparing ministerial or executive-level briefs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and research abilities.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy, law, economics, political science or a related field (desirable).
