APS 6 level Senior Policy Officer

We are seeking a Senior Policy Officer at APS 6 Level to contribute to strategic policy development and implementation across key government programs. In this role, you will provide high-quality policy advice, conduct research and analysis, and engage with a range of stakeholders, including ministers, parliamentary offices, and community organisations. The role is available in either Sydney NSW or Canberra ACT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic policy advice aligned with government and agency priorities.
- Prepare ministerial briefs, submissions, reports, and correspondence.
- Support engagement with ministers, ministerial offices, and parliamentary processes.
- Conduct research and analysis to inform evidence-based policy.
- Assist in managing policy projects, including planning, coordination, and reporting.
- Monitor policy trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Strong understanding of public policy development and Australian Government processes.
- Experience preparing ministerial and executive briefings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities independently and collaboratively.
- Experience in program management, contract/grant administration, and financial compliance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and cultural awareness, particularly with First Nations communities.
Desirable:
- Experience working with First Nations organisations and community-led approaches.
- Knowledge of co-design and place-based program development.
- Familiarity with APS Values, Code of Conduct, and program management frameworks.
- Formal qualifications in public administration, project management, or community development.
