APS4 & APS5 Environmental Data Officer

HOBAN Recruitment is recruiting for the role of Environmental Data Officer on behalf of our client, located in Canberra, ACT.
This is an excellent opportunity for detail-oriented professionals with a background in environmental science or information technology to contribute to meaningful projects while developing their technical skills.
About the Role
As an Environmental Data Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the collection, analysis and management of environmental data.
You will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to improving data accuracy and integrity across environmental programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing, verifying and analysing large environmental datasets
- Assisting in the development of data processes, tools and reports
- Ensuring accuracy and consistency in data entry, interpretation and reporting
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to support ongoing environmental projects
- Contributing to process improvements and data-driven decision making

Additional details:
- APS Level: APS4 or APS5 (depending on experience)
- Duration: Initial 3-6 months, with potential extension or permanency
- Pay rate: $39.50 - $48.70 per hour (depending on skillset/APS level)
- Location: Canberra preferred, however candidates based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Adelaide will also be considered
- Baseline security clearance preferred but not essential
About You
You'll bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a passion for environmental data and systems.
- Degree in Environmental Science or Information Technology (or related field)
- Excellent data analysis, reporting and database management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing information
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Interest in continuous learning and development within the APS environment
Classification: APS4 or APS5 (Labour Hire)
Type: Full-time, contract (potential to become ongoing)
