About the Role As an APS6 Policy Officer, you will contribute to significant policy reform activities and provide strategic policy advice, analysis, and recommendations. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support the development and implementation of policy, projects, and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement policy, strategies, and projects aligned with reform priorities.
- Conduct detailed policy analysis and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Prepare high-quality policy papers, briefings, reports, presentations, and correspondence.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Support and lead consultation and engagement activities.
- Analyse data and technical information to inform decision-making.
- Contribute to project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage sensitive and complex issues while exercising sound judgment and initiative.
- Experience in policy development, analysis, and implementation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare high-quality government-style documentation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience working within a government or policy-focused environment will be highly regarded.
- Strategic policy experience.
- Experience supporting reform programs, projects, or complex initiatives.
- Understanding of legislation, governance, or procurement frameworks.
- Knowledge of the disability sector is advantageous.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Australian Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check.
