About the Role
Join the team at Blacktown City Council as a Workshop Trades Assistant, contributing to the maintenance and repair of Council's extensive fleet of vehicles, plant, and equipment. This hands-on role supports qualified trades staff and ensures the safe, efficient operation of Council's mechanical services.
 
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintenance and servicing of Council vehicles and equipment, including greasing, washing, and cleaning.
 
- Support trades personnel in mechanical repairs and workshop operations.
 
- Operate vehicles, plant, and equipment safely and in line with procedures.
 
- Assist in tyre fitting and replacement as required.
 
- Maintain workshop cleanliness, records, and timekeeping standards.
 
- Comply with all NSW Work Health and Safety (WHS) and environmental regulations.
 
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
 
- School Certificate or equivalent.
 
- Experience in heavy plant and vehicle wheel/tyre removal and fitting.
 
- Current Class HR driver's licence.
 
Desirable:
 
- Current HC driver's licence.
 
- Forklift operating certification.
 
- Prior experience in heavy vehicle or plant maintenance.
