HOBAN Recruitment is partnering with a leading government organisation to recruit an experienced EL1 Risk Officer to support complex program delivery through robust risk and assurance practices.
This role can be located in ANY client office LOCATION IN SYDNEY
About the Role
In this high-impact leadership role, you will drive risk and assurance activities across a large, complex program, supporting executive decision-making and governance.
- Lead and coordinate risk and assurance activities across internal and external sources
- Analyse risks, issues and assurance findings to identify trends and systemic impacts
- Develop integrated reporting to support senior executives, committees and governance forums
- Provide strategic, evidence-based advice on complex and sensitive risk scenarios
- Maintain risk registers, assurance frameworks and tools to ensure audit readiness
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external bodies to support assurance delivery
- Monitor risk mitigation activities, escalating issues and driving timely resolution
- Contribute to continuous improvement of risk frameworks, processes and reporting

About You
You're a strategic thinker with strong risk and assurance expertise, confident working in complex environments.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management and assurance at a senior level (APS EL1 or equivalent)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information
- Sound judgement and ability to assess risk impacts, interdependencies and long-term implications
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence executives and diverse stakeholders
- Proven capability to deliver high-quality, evidence-based advice on complex issues
- Experience building relationships and fostering a positive risk culture across teams
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments and manage competing priorities
Desirable:
- Experience within PMO or portfolio management environments
- Background in government or highly regulated sectors
- Current or ability to obtain AGSVA Baseline (or higher) Security Clearance
