HOBAN Recruitment is partnering with a Federal Government agency to recruit an experienced EL1 level Strategic Policy Officer located on ANY Client location.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead policy reform and deliver outcomes that shape national programs and services.
About the Role
As an EL1 level Strategic Policy Officer, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and delivering strategic policy and reform initiatives within a complex government environment. You will lead teams, provide expert advice and work collaboratively with stakeholders to influence policy outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic policy and reform initiatives
- Provide high-quality policy analysis, advice and recommendations to senior leadership
- Manage and mentor a team, driving performance and fostering a high-performing culture
- Engage, influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
- Analyse data and complex information to inform decision-making
- Apply sound judgement to manage risk and sensitive issues in a dynamic environment
- Contribute to governance, planning and continuous improvement initiatives

About You
You are an experienced and driven policy professional with strong leadership capability and a passion for delivering reform.
Essential skills and experience:
- Proven experience in strategic policy development and implementation
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams delivering policy, programs or reform in the public sector
- Strong experience working with legislation and governance frameworks
- Experience in strategic commissioning and program design
- Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for government audiences
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and operate in complex environments
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the disability sector
- Understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
