HOBAN Recruitment is partnering with a high‑profile Commonwealth agency to recruit an EL1 Assistant Director - Strategic Pricing located in either SYDNEY NSW OR CANBERRA ACT.
This is a senior analytical role for an experienced professional who thrives at the intersection of economics, data, and public policy, and who wants to make a real impact on the care economy.
About the Role
In this role, you will lead and contribute to complex economic and pricing analysis that supports evidence‑based decision‑making across national programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading economic research and analysis to inform strategic pricing and policy decisions
- Developing robust pricing policies, analytical frameworks and market insights
- Applying statistical, economic modelling and research techniques to large and complex datasets
- Translating complex quantitative insights into clear, practical advice for diverse audiences
- Engaging in stakeholder consultation to test assumptions, fill information gaps and improve outcomes
- Collaborating across teams, government partners, academics and subject‑matter experts
- Contributing to sustainable market stewardship and long‑term financial outcomes in the care economy

About You
You are a confident, analytical leader with a strong interest in public value and market design.
To succeed, you will bring:
- Strategic thinking skills to solve both quantitative and qualitative pricing problems
- Advanced analytical and problem‑solving capability applied to complex economic issues
- A strong quantitative mindset with the ability to analyse data and communicate insights clearly
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Proven experience building trusted relationships with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Energy, enthusiasm and a genuine motivation to improve outcomes within the care economy
Desirable:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in economics, mathematics, statistics, public policy or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience working on economic challenges within the care economy or human services markets
