We are seeking an experienced and reliable Logistics Officer to join a major SA government department on a 12-month contract, covering a maternity leave period. This role is ideal for a proactive, organised, and safety-focused individual who enjoys working in a warehouse environment and contributing to smooth operational outcomes.
About the Role
As a Logistics Officer, you will play an essential part in ensuring high-quality inventory and procurement support within the warehouse. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders to maintain efficient workflows, uphold safety standards, and deliver accurate and timely inventory services.
You will also contribute to building trust with internal teams, customers, and the community by providing professional service and support that aligns with the organisation's broader business strategy and operational delivery across South Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-organised store environment
- Apply and promote safety measures for yourself, team members, visitors, and the public
- Pick, pack, and deliver goods accurately and on time
- Check and verify orders, invoices, requisitions, and stock levels
- Carry out purchasing and salvage activities
- Assist with stock audits and internal governance checks
- Perform inventory control tasks, including packing and picking duties
- Create purchase orders and process receipts with accuracy
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in inventory, stores, or warehousing operations
- Current high-risk forklift licence (desirable)
- Current Class C driver's licence (essential)
- A basic understanding of procurement and inventory processes
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Basic skills in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Willingness to travel to site as required
