HOBAN Recruitment is partnering with a leading Government organisation to recruit an APS5 level Data and Reporting Analyst located in NEWCASTLE NSW. This role sits within a high-performing analytics team focused on delivering data-driven insights to support operational decision-making and strategic outcomes.
About the Role
As an APS5 level Data and Reporting Analyst, you will work under limited direction to deliver high-quality data analysis, reporting, and insights that inform key business decisions.
- Extract, manipulate and analyse complex datasets to produce meaningful insights and reporting outputs
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and visualisations to support organisational performance monitoring
- Identify trends, risks and emerging issues to inform timely operational decision-making
- Ensure data integrity through robust validation, cleansing and quality assurance processes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into reporting solutions
- Contribute to improving reporting processes, tools and methodologies
- Support project activities including planning, tracking and reporting on outcomes
- Prepare clear, concise and visually engaging reports for diverse audiences

About You
You are a detail-oriented and proactive data professional with strong analytical and communication skills.
- Proven ability to interpret complex data sets and identify trends, patterns and insights
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables, Power Query, and advanced formulas)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly and effectively
- High attention to detail, particularly in data validation, cleansing and reporting accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and translate business needs into data outputs
- Proactive mindset with a focus on improving processes and solving data challenges
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Experience supporting project delivery and analysing business requirements (desirable)
