APS 6 Level Data Analyst

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced APS6 Data Analyst to join a high-performing team in Newcastle, NSW. This role offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful data insights, lead complex analysis activities and support tactical and strategic decision-making in a dynamic, policy-driven environment.
About the Role
Reporting at APS6 level, you will work with a high degree of autonomy to deliver complex analytical outputs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Deliver high-quality data analysis, insights and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Design and build dashboards, benefits reports and data visualisations
- Manipulate and transform complex datasets (experience with Power Query highly desirable)
- Apply advanced analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills to complex business issues
- Provide expert advice and analytical leadership in a legislative and policy-governed environment
- Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and present clear, actionable insights

About You
You are a confident and capable data professional who thrives in complex environments.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis, reporting and visualisation
- Strong skills working with large and complex datasets
- Experience building dashboards and reports for senior stakeholder audiences
- Highly developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and professionally
- Experience with Power Query and Microsoft Office tools (highly desirable)
- Public sector or policy environment experience will be highly regarded
