HOBAN Recruitment is recruiting for an APS5 level Business Intelligence Analyst on behalf of a Commonwealth Government agency based in Newcastle NSW. This role offers the opportunity to work in a meaningful, data-driven environment where insights directly support service delivery, performance improvement and strategic decision‑making.
About the Role
Reporting to senior business intelligence leadership, this role is accountable under limited direction and is guided by legislation, policies, procedures and established methodologies. You will provide detailed technical and operational support while collaborating closely with key business areas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking data analytics and reporting using standard statistical techniques
- Producing, interpreting and analysing complex data sets to identify risks and emerging trends
- Extracting, analysing and presenting data using Microsoft Excel and comparison charts
- Developing and implementing data collection systems to improve data quality and efficiency
- Preparing and presenting clear, consumable business intelligence reports for diverse stakeholders
- Coordinating branch reporting requirements to monitor and track improvement outcomes
- Conducting quality assurance activities, including audits, trend analysis and outcomes analysis
- Implementing and managing performance tracking systems for branches and partners

About You
To be successful, you will bring strong analytical capability combined with a collaborative and detail‑focused approach.
You will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in data analysis, reporting and business intelligence (government experience desirable)
- Strong Excel skills and confidence presenting data in clear, visual formats
- Ability to interpret complex information and provide practical, evidence‑based insights
- Experience developing or improving data collection and reporting processes
- High attention to detail, with experience in quality assurance and data validation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement
- Ability to work autonomously under limited direction while managing competing priorities
