HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior UX/UI Officer (APS 6 level) to support the delivery of high-quality, user-centred digital solutions within a large government environment located in RICHMOND VIC. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of a centralised design system and champion best-practice UX/UI across complex digital products.
About the Role
- Lead the creation and evolution of a centralised design system, including component libraries, variants, and design tokens
- Establish and maintain UI standards, patterns, and documentation to ensure consistency across platforms
- Conduct user research, develop user flows, prototypes, and usability testing to inform design decisions
- Translate complex requirements into intuitive, accessible digital experiences
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between UX/UI and technical delivery
- Champion digital accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.2 compliance
- Contribute to the development of a broader UX design framework
- Support stakeholders by translating concepts into clear, user-focused design outputs

About You
- Proven experience as a Senior UX/UI Designer, ideally within complex or government environments
- Strong expertise in design systems, components, and design tokens
- Advanced proficiency in Figma
- Demonstrated capability in user research, prototyping, and usability testing
- Solid understanding of digital accessibility and WCAG 2.2 standards
- Ability to develop and implement UX frameworks and best practices
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate concepts into user-centred designs
- Understanding of web technologies and digital terminology
