HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced Workforce Planner (APS6 or EL1 equivalent) to support a high-profile federal government client located in either CANBERRA ACT or SYDNEY NSW.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to strategic workforce planning in a complex and evolving environment.
About the Role
As a Workforce Planner, you will play a key role in shaping workforce strategy and enabling future capability through data-driven insights and planning.
- Deliver strategic workforce planning activities including demand and supply analysis
- Conduct capability assessments and workforce modelling to inform decision-making
- Identify workforce risks, critical capabilities and organisational dependencies
- Lead or contribute to the development of a refreshed Workforce Plan aligned to strategic priorities
- Provide workforce planning input into organisational design and operating model development
- Develop practical workforce planning tools, templates and documentation
- Support implementation, monitoring and governance of workforce planning initiatives
- Engage with stakeholders and provide high-quality advice to senior leaders
- Prepare briefings, reports and insights to inform executive decision-making

About You
You are a strategic thinker with strong analytical capability and experience delivering workforce planning solutions in complex environments.
- Proven experience in workforce planning, workforce analytics or modelling
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Experience developing workforce strategies, plans or modelling outputs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work across multiple teams
Desirable:
- Experience in the APS or broader public sector
- Experience supporting organisational design, service design or transformation initiatives
