Are you a digital content professional with a passion for accessible, user-focused web experiences?
We are currently seeking a Publishing Officer to join a high-performing digital communications team within a Federal Government environment. This role plays a key part in delivering accessible, evidence-based web content that supports a diverse Australian audience.
About the role
As a Publishing Officer, you will contribute to the delivery and optimisation of online content across multiple web platforms. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you'll ensure content is accessible, user-centric, and aligned with best practice digital standards.
Key responsibilities
- Publish and manage web content using Drupal CMS
- Apply WCAG accessibility standards and best practice UX principles
- Review and analyse data to inform content decisions and placement
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital outcomes
- Manage workflows, requests, and enquiries via Jira Service Desk and team inboxes
- Support the ongoing improvement of digital channels and content performance
About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Understanding of web technologies, CMS platforms (Drupal preferred), and accessibility requirements
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience publishing and maintaining digital content in a structured environment
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver within deadlines
- A user-first mindset with a focus on accessibility and inclusion
Desirable
- Exposure to SharePoint, Teams, or collaboration tools
- Background in communications, marketing, or digital content
- Experience in government, not-for-profit, or regulated environments
