About the Role
An opportunity exists for experienced APS6 level Policy Officers to contribute to complex, high-priority policy reform within a Federal Government environment.
This role will see you working across strategic policy development, implementation, and advisory functions, supporting large-scale reform initiatives and contributing to improved outcomes at a national level. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, applying sound judgement to complex and sensitive issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver strategic policy and reform initiatives
- Provide high-level policy advice supported by research and analysis
- Interpret and analyse complex data to inform decision-making
- Prepare a range of documentation, including briefs, reports, submissions, and correspondence
- Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to governance processes and reform programs
- Support the implementation of policy and program outcomes
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong experience in strategic policy development and implementation
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including experience in government-style writing
- Proven ability to prepare complex policy documents and briefings
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Sound judgement and the ability to work with limited direction in a dynamic environment
Desirable Experience
- Experience within the APS or broader public sector
- Exposure to legislative, regulatory, or commissioning environments
- Experience supporting large-scale reform or transformation initiatives
- Understanding of complex service delivery systems or policy frameworks
Requirements

- Ability to obtain and maintain pre-employment checks
