About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Water Systems - Planning & Operational Data Analyst to support metropolitan and regional water supply operations through high‑quality data, modelling and reporting.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring system readiness, improving confidence in operational data, and delivering a large backlog of analytical and data quality work that underpins day‑to‑day operations and short‑ to medium‑term planning.
You will work closely with planners, operators and control room teams, acting as the link between data, modelling and operational decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and validate demand forecasts, hydraulic models, pump configurations and system logic.
- Monitor short‑term weather conditions and heatwave risks to support operational readiness.
- Improve data quality through validation, backfilling and bulk data updates.
- Manage system and asset configuration changes across operational platforms.
- Develop, maintain and improve operational dashboards, reports and decision‑support tools.
- Prepare and update operating procedures and documentation for operational and control room use.
- Collaborate with planners, operators and regional controllers to ensure alignment between data, models and operational practices.
- Review, prioritise and deliver deferred analytical and data‑related workstreams to completion.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in the water industry (experience with consultancies such as Orion or Stantec highly regarded).
- Strong data analytics capability, with confidence working across large operational datasets.
- Proven experience in hydraulic modelling.
- Ability to interpret complex operational data and translate it into practical insights.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work effectively in operational environments.
