ASO4-level Public Relations Officer

We're seeking an experienced Public Relations Officer to join our team on a full-time assignment of approximately 3 months, commencing as soon as possible.
In this role, you will contribute to impactful media and communications activity that supports major exhibitions, programs and organisational announcements. You'll work closely with internal teams and external media to ensure compelling stories reach audiences locally, nationally and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop publicity ideas, media pitches and coordinate media campaigns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets and key stakeholders.
- Draft media releases, media briefs, pitches and content aligned to brand and organisational ethos.
- Liaise daily with journalists to identify story opportunities and secure media coverage.
- Support planning and delivery of publicity campaigns for exhibitions, events and programs.
- Coordinate media events, familiarisations and on‑site visits for journalists, photographers and film crews.
- Assist with production of media kits, reports, itineraries and digital assets.
- Support the preparation of reactive media statements and communications strategies.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in publicity, communications, media or a related role.
- Excellent writing and editing skills across media releases, briefs and pitches.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented and able to work independently under limited direction.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and exercise sound judgment.
- Experience working with journalists, photographers and film crews.
- Understanding of event logistics and media coordination.
- A degree in communications, media or public relations is desirable.
- Knowledge of the arts and cultural sector is an advantage.
- Must hold a National Police Check issued within the last two years.
