We are seeking two motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Officers to join a large South Australian government payroll team on a full-time assignment. These roles will commence on 1 December and run through to 29 March 2026.
The successful candidates will join the Education payroll team, which is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and high-volume payroll processing for a major government department.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operational Team Leader, the Payroll Officer will contribute to end-to-end payroll activities, including data entry, processing, and responding to payroll queries from agency staff, school sites, and employees.
You will be involved in:
- Processing pay files and facilitating payroll-related workflows
- Master data entry, timesheet coding, and leave application processing
- Investigating and resolving complex pay-related queries
- Working both independently and within a team to meet strict deadlines
Contributing to team targets and collaborating to achieve shared goals
About You
We are looking for candidates who bring strong accuracy, reliability, and the ability to manage high-volume workloads. The ideal applicants will have:
Essential:
- Current National Police Clearance issued within 2 years
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new processes
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong time-management and ability to meet deadlines
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
Desirable:
- Experience in payroll
- Experience with Chris21
- Customer service experience (e.g., call centre)
- Data entry experience (minimum 40 wpm)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
