Lead Design Manager - Dams Projects

We're seeking an experienced Lead Design Manager to oversee the delivery of high-quality, multi-disciplinary engineering projects focused on dams and geotechnical engineering, particularly in relation to earthquake risk and technical integrity.

In this senior role, you'll lead a team of Design Managers, ensuring technical excellence, risk management, and on-time delivery of key infrastructure projects. You'll also contribute directly to a select number of engineering projects while driving continuous improvement and a culture of collaboration and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Design Managers to achieve technical and project outcomes.

• Oversee the design and delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary projects with a focus on geotechnical and dam safety.

• Manage technical risk, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety frameworks.

• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to develop project scopes, budgets, and work breakdown structures.

• Ensure high standards of communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement across all project phases.

• Foster a culture of Safety in Design, continuous improvement, and service excellence.

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

• A Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) or equivalent in a relevant discipline - Essential

• Strong background in engineering design, design review, and infrastructure standards

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Proven experience leading teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders in complex projects

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise at senior levels

• Local experience with ANCOL systems (desirable but not essential)

• Postgraduate qualifications in Project or Business Management will be highly regarded
