About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Disaster Resilience Officer. In this pivotal role, you will lead initiatives that strengthen the organisation's ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disruptive events.
Reporting to the Manager - Disaster Resilience Unit, you will drive the implementation and continuous improvement of disaster resilience and business continuity frameworks across the organisation. You'll collaborate closely with internal teams, emergency services, and government agencies to ensure readiness and resilience at every level.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and maintain comprehensive disaster resilience, emergency management, and business continuity programs.
Apply a prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery (PPRR) approach to resilience planning.
Develop, deliver, and evaluate training and exercise programs to enhance staff preparedness.
Oversee incident command operations and ensure readiness of communication and response systems.
Conduct reviews, audits, and debriefs to identify lessons and drive continuous improvement.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
Contribute to risk assessments, assurance frameworks, and performance monitoring.

You are an experienced and proactive professional who thrives in dynamic environments. You bring strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to coordinate complex response and recovery efforts.
Essential Skills and Experience
Proven experience in emergency or disaster management, business continuity, or risk management.
Strong leadership and decision-making ability, particularly in high-pressure situations.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience developing and delivering training or exercise programs.
Demonstrated project and program management capability.
Desirable Qualifications
Certificate IV (or higher) in Training and Assessment (TAE40116).
Diploma (or higher) in Public Safety - Emergency Management, Project Management, or Risk Management.
Postgraduate qualifications in emergency management, security, or related disciplines.
Experience as a H-MIMMS or EMERGOTrain Instructor (or equivalent).
Special Conditions
May be required to work across multiple sites and participate in an on-call roster.
Some out-of-hours work may be required to support incident response operations.
Must hold or be willing to obtain a current National Criminal History Check and relevant DHS clearances.
Participation in training, exercises, and ongoing professional development is required.
