About the Role
We are seeking a Finance Officer to contribute to the financial management of a dynamic local government environment. This role ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, supports the local economy through timely supplier payments, and maintains strong financial oversight.

Key Responsibilities
As a Finance Officer, you will be responsible for a range of essential accounting functions:
Accounts Payable: Timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and credit notes, and making payments in accordance with agreed terms.
Master File Integrity: Accurate maintenance of the supplier master files, including appropriate verification of change requests (e.g., name, bank, or address details).
Compliance: Reviewing transactions for compliance with GST legislation and assisting with the preparation of the Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) submission.
Reconciliations: Timely and accurate reconciliation of supplier statements and assisting with bank reconciliations as required.
Purchase Cards: Administration of the corporate purchase card system, including staff training and monitoring transactions for policy compliance.
Experience and Skills (Desirable)
Administrative experience within a Local Government environment.
Experience working effectively within a busy accounts payable function.
Fast and accurate data entry skills.
Experience using Microsoft software (e.g. Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
Knowledge
Sound knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.
Knowledge of Goods and Services Tax Legislation and Fringe Benefits Tax as it applies to the function.
Sound knowledge of internal controls, reconciliations, and system/ledger maintenance.
