About the Role:
The APS6 Case Manager will undertake complex case management activities, working under limited direction to resolve matters efficiently and in accordance with legislative requirements. The role involves interpreting legislation and policy, managing sensitive and high-risk matters, preparing high-quality documentation, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to progress and finalise cases.
This position will suit a professional with strong analytical capability, stakeholder engagement skills, and experience working in regulatory, legal, or operational government environments. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to manage competing priorities, apply administrative law principles, and deliver high-quality outcomes within a federal government context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of complex matters end-to-end, including analysis, preparation of resolution options, and case documentation.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties to support timely case progression.
- Obtain and interpret information to support effective case resolution in line with legislation, policy, and procedural guidance.
- Apply problem-solving, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills to progress cases effectively.
- Prepare high-quality reports, briefs, and documentation for internal and external audiences.
- Assess, prioritise, and respond to risk matters that may impact individuals, organisational obligations, or program sustainability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities and support alignment with broader organisational strategies.
- Undertake other case management and administrative duties as required.
Mandatory Requirements:
- You must be an Australian Citizen to be considered for this role.
- Demonstrated experience in case management, administrative decision-making, dispute resolution, or a similar regulatory environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Proven ability to analyse complex information, interpret legislation or policy, and make informed decisions.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced federal environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and briefs.
Highly Regarded:
- Experience within the Australian Public Service or a federal regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of administrative decision-making, government programs, or related operational frameworks.
- Familiarity with disability policy, social services, or complex case management.
