HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced Material Planner / Buyer / Purchasing Officer for a leading global manufacturing organisation based in Sunshine, Victoria. This is an excellent opportunity for a supply chain professional to join a high-performing team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
This position offers an immediate start through to 19 September 2027, with the possibility of extension based on operational requirements.

As a Material Planner / Buyer, you will be responsible for balancing material supply with production demand while ensuring inventory and supplier performance targets are achieved. You will work closely with suppliers, planning teams, operations and key stakeholders to maintain material availability and minimise supply chain risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the site's material planning activities based on operational requirements
- Maintain accuracy of supplier schedules and commitments
- Monitor and manage planning exceptions generated through advanced planning systems
- Balance supplier capabilities with production and operational needs
- Assess the impact of supplier commitments on production and build schedules
- Support constrained supply allocation processes
- Generate, validate and analyse supplier scorecards
- Proactively manage supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Escalate potential supply interruptions and risks before production impact occurs
- Partner with demand and supply planning teams to manage changing volume and product mix requirements
- Support inventory optimisation and inventory repositioning activities
- Analyse, interpret and improve supply chain KPIs and performance metrics
- Participate in engineering change and part change control processes
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in Material Planning, Procurement, Purchasing, Supply Chain Planning or Inventory Management
- Experience working within manufacturing, engineering, industrial or large-scale supply chain environments
- Strong knowledge of materials planning systems, MRP/ERP systems and advanced planning tools
- Experience managing supplier relationships and supplier performance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret data, KPIs and supply chain performance metrics
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with planning and reporting tools
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- A collaborative approach with the ability to work across multiple business functions
- Experience with inventory optimisation and PFEP (Plan for Every Part) methodologies
- Exposure to engineering change management and part lifecycle planning
- Experience using business intelligence dashboards and advanced planning systems
- Relevant qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Business or a related discipline
