The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to take on a senior leadership position with broad responsibility across commercial growth, client strategy, operations and team leadership. You will play a key role in shaping business performance while working closely with senior decision-makers across Australia and Japan.
This position would suit either:
- An experienced General Manager seeking a new challenge, or
- A senior agency or consulting leader ready to step into a first GM role
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, identifying opportunities to expand existing client partnerships.
- Lead proposals, competitive pitches, commercial negotiations and executive-level client meetings.
- Provide strategic direction across brand, marketing, digital and cross-cultural projects.
- Drive business growth through upsell and new client acquisition and strategic account development across Australia and Japan markets.
- Ensure the successful delivery of major projects, balancing quality, profitability, timelines and resource allocation.
- Lead financial planning activities including budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategy and overall business performance management.
- Develop, mentor and inspire a high-performing multicultural team, fostering collaboration, accountability and professional growth.
- Partner closely with the Managing Director to support business planning, organisational development and operational excellence.
About You
Ideally, you will bring:
- 8+ years' experience in marketing, advertising, communications, consulting or related industries
- Japanese and English language skill
- Experience in a senior leadership position
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
- Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills
- Experience developing and implementing marketing or business strategies
- Financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting and project profitability
- Business-level Japanese and English language skills
- Experience working across different cultures and international business environments
- Relocation support may be considered for suitable international candidates
- Flexible arrangements may be available for highly experienced candidates located in Japan
