An established and expanding logistics organisation is looking for an experienced Customs Broker to join its Customs team in Sydney. This is a great opportunity for a licensed professional who enjoys working with a diverse client base and liaising closely with regulatory authorities.
About the Role
Reporting to the Customs Supervisor, you will manage endtoend customs clearance processes while ensuring full compliance with Australian customs and biosecurity regulations. You will act as a key contact for clients and government agencies, providing accurate, timely, and costeffective customs solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and lodge import and export documentation in line with relevant legislation
- Ensure accurate tariff classification, valuation, duties, and tax calculations across varied commodities
- Process import documentation through Customs and Quarantine efficiently and costeffectively
- Represent clients in interactions with Australian Border Force and Department of Biosecurity
- Respond to client enquiries on procedures, classifications, and payments
- Prepare and lodge Tariff and Valuation Advice applications
- Identify and initiate refund opportunities arising from misclassification or errors
- Liaise with Customs, Quarantine, AQIS, and other regulatory bodies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external clients
- Assist with disputes, resolutions, and customsrelated litigation when required
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Customs Supervisor
Skills & Experience
- Solid knowledge of Australian customs legislation, tariff classification, and quarantine regulations
- Experience using EDI / ICS and COLS systems
- Demonstrated experience working with Australian Border Force and Department of Biosecurity
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and strong problemsolving skills
- Background in freight forwarding or supply chain is highly regarded
Qualifications
- Customs Broker Licence (mandatory)
- Quarantine accreditation
- 2+ years' experience as a Customs Classifier or Broker
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferred)
