Customs Broker

An established and growing logistics organisation is seeking an experienced Customs Broker to join its Customs team in either Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed professional who enjoys working across a diverse client portfolio and liaising closely with regulatory authorities.
About the Role
Reporting to the Customs Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end customs clearance activities, ensuring full compliance with Australian customs and biosecurity regulations. You will act as a key point of contact for clients and authorities, delivering accurate, timely, and cost-effective customs solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and lodge import and export customs documentation in compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations
Ensure accurate tariff classification, valuation, duty, and tax calculations for a broad range of commodities
Process import documentation through Customs and Quarantine in a timely and cost-effective manner
Represent clients in dealings with Australian Border Force and the Department of Biosecurity
Respond to client enquiries regarding customs procedures, classifications, and payments
Prepare and lodge Tariff and Valuation Advices
Identify and instigate refunds resulting from incorrect classifications or errors
Liaise with Customs, Quarantine, AQIS, and other regulatory bodies
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients
Assist with customs-related disputes, resolutions, and litigation where required
Perform ad hoc duties as requested by the Customs Supervisor
Skills & Experience
Good working knowledge of Australian Customs legislation, tariff classification, and quarantine regulations
Proven experience using EDI / ICS and COLS systems
Demonstrated experience dealing with Australian Border Force and Department of Biosecurity
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
Background in freight forwarding and supply chain solutions
Qualifications
Customs Broker Licence (mandatory)
Quarantine accreditation
2+ years' practical experience as a Customs Classifier or Broker
Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferred)
