Air & Sea freight operator assistant

We are partnering with an established logistics company seeking a motivated professional to join their Air and Sea Freight Operations team in northern suburbs of Melbourne. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across import and export operations, working with a highly respected and well-established organisation.
About the Role:
As an Air & Sea Freight Operator Assistant, you will support the operations team with administrative and operational tasks, including shipment coordination, documentation, invoicing, and data entry in freight management systems. You will liaise with clients, suppliers, shipping lines, airlines, and internal teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of both air and sea freight imports and exports. Tghe office is located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne approx 10km away from the CBD.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clerical and operational support to the air and sea freight teams
Input data into Cargowise systems and ensure all shipment processes are followed
Make export airline and shipping line bookings, and maintain airline/line rates and charges
Track and follow up on import and export shipments
Generate client reports with estimated and confirmed delivery dates
Process customer invoices and supplier/creditor invoices accurately and promptly
Assist with warehouse operations and transport arrangements as required
Maintain and update customer and airline/shipping line databases, including aviation and shipping security listings
Answer calls professionally and liaise with clients, suppliers, and authorities
Support branch teams, including sales and customer service
What We're Looking For:
2-3 years' experience in a relevant freight forwarding role (air or sea; more experience considered)
Experience with air and/or sea import OR ecport documentation
Strong organizational, administration, and interpersonal skills
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Experience with Cargowise or willingness to learn
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Work Days & Hours:
Monday to Friday, starting from 8:30am
Start Date:
